HCHA provides the residents of Harris County with first-class affordable housing in a safe and supportive environment. To that end we have developed several assistance programs for families and individuals who need help securing a rental property or seeking to achieve homeownership. HCHA also facilitates a program to assist the homeless population in Harris County.

Independence is a rewarding program that helps recipients with a steady income and good credit to build equity and establish roots within their community through homeownership. The Independence Homeownership Program works to ensure success by providing pre- and post sale education to all participants.
